What AI Is, What It Isn’t—And Why It’s Your Leadership Ally
For many people, artificial intelligence (AI) is still associated with science fiction: emotionless robots enslaving humans.
But AI has already become part of our everyday lives.
The mere mention of artificial intelligence sparks excitement, skepticism, and—let’s be honest—a fair bit of anxiety and sometimes even total rejection. There are so many unanswered questions about it.
Is it here to take over jobs?
Is it making people lose their ability to think by themselves?
Do you need a PhD in sciences to use it effectively?
And worst of all—will it strip away the very essence of human connection?
Let’s set the record straight:
AI isn’t a robot army marching to replace us, nor is it a black-box mystery only Silicon Valley elites can put to effective use. It’s a tool—a powerful one—which, when used right, can be a leader’s best collaborator in navigating an increasingly complex world.
On the other hand, AI is evolving at unbelievable speed, and nobody really knows where this journey will lead to eventually. All the "big players" are talking openly about this. There is just one thing absolutely certain:
It’s up to each of us—the way we understand AI, the way we’re using it, the way we’re training it, and the rules we’re defining for it and ourselves.
AI is here to stay; it’s time to look behind the curtain and meet your new collaborator.
You might not be ready yet; AI and your competitors definitely are.
Let’s break down the biggest myths that might be holding you (and your business) back.
❌ Myth #1: AI Is Taking Away Jobs
✔ Reality: AI Is Taking Away Tasks, Not Humans
Ever heard someone say, "AI is coming for our jobs!"? Sure, AI is changing the workforce, but it’s not mass-replacing humans—it’s reshaping what and how we do it.
Take the Industrial Revolution. Yes, some jobs disappeared, but entirely new industries and jobs were born. The same is happening now: AI is automating repetitive, mind-numbing tasks—not human ingenuity, leadership, or emotional intelligence.
Consider this:
AI can analyze vast amounts of data in seconds, but it can’t have a strategic, empathetic conversation with your team.
AI can schedule meetings automatically and find the one time slot suitable for everyone who should be joining the meeting, but it can’t build relationships or negotiate with stakeholders.
AI can generate reports, but it can’t make bold leadership decisions based on experience and gut instinct.
The leaders who take advantage of this evolutionary step in technology won’t be the ones fearing AI and holding back; they’ll be the ones learning about it, understanding it, and harnessing it—to free themselves from low-value work and enable them to focus on more important tasks like building or strengthening human relationships, working on a new strategy, or innovation.
Of course AI will have a massive impact—no doubt about that.
According to the World Economic Forum, AI will displace 92 million, while creating 170 million jobs.
❌ Myth #2: AI Is Making Humans Dumb
✔ Reality: AI Doesn’t Replace Thinking—It Enhances It
Ever heard this statement: “If AI does all the work, we won’t think for ourselves anymore!”
The contrary is the case. Look at prompt engineering, for instance: To get the best results from the AI, deep knowledge of linguistics is required. Refining prompts in communication with the AI is an incredible way for humans to improve their communication skills. Having an AI generate a video clip requests stepping in the shoes of a movie director, giving exact directions in regards to every single movement, camera angle, etc.
Also, AI gives us humans the chance to express our thoughts in more ways than we ever had before.
Or, ask AI for feedback and get your mind racing on what it is coming up with.
AI is a thinking partner, not a thinking replacement. It processes vast amounts of information faster than we ever could, but the final call? That’s still yours.
Imagine this:
You’re preparing for a big client meeting. Instead of sifting through endless reports, AI summarizes key trends and customer insights in seconds, preparing a stunning slide deck ready to use—so you can focus on strategy instead of data digging.
You need fresh ideas for your next product launch. AI can analyze market trends, but only you can make the creative, human-centered decisions that make your business unique.
You’re crafting a speech. AI helps structure your thoughts, but your personal stories, insights, and presence are what bring it to life.
Action step:
Let AI (for instance, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) draft you a script for your next speech and use it as a basis to refine it. Let AI suggest some improvements after you're done (you need to provide your revised text with an appropriate prompt) and maybe let it even create some visualizations. Discuss the results with the AI and enjoy the experience.
❌ Myth #3: AI Can Only Be Used by Highly Skilled Technical Experts
✔ Reality: You can use your language to express yourself? You can use AI
A lot of leaders assume AI is some elite, highly technical thing reserved for programmers and data scientists. Ready for the shocking reality? If you’ve ever used Google Autocomplete, dictated a text message, or asked Alexa to play your favorite song, you’ve already used AI.
The best AI tools today are designed for everyone, not just tech experts. You don’t need to code. You don’t need to understand complex machine learning algorithms. You just need to be curious enough to explore what’s possible and keep this important principle in mind:
CRAP IN, CRAP OUT
You are responsible for how you communicate, prompt, and feed the AI, as well as using the right AI model for the task you want to use it for. All models are trained differently. Using the wrong one leads to CRAP, often referred to as "hallucinations."
Here’s how AI is already changing workflows:
Writing & Communication: AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, and Grammarly can draft emails, reports, and presentations—saving hours of time.
Decision-Making: AI-driven dashboards help leaders spot trends, risks, and opportunities without manually analyzing spreadsheets.
Time Management: AI assistants schedule meetings, prioritize tasks, and even draft responses—freeing up mental space for what truly matters.
Action step:
You have a long text like a business report or a study to read that will take up too much of your valuable time, but you need to know the content? Drop it into ChatGPT and ask it to summarize it for you. Be as specific as possible and tell it exactly what to watch out for and what you need. The result might surprise you.
❌ Myth #4: AI Is Taking Away Human Connection
✔ Reality: AI Handles the Mundane So You Can Focus on What Matters
There’s a belief that AI will make work cold, robotic, and transactional. That it will strip away the human experience. Ready for a mindshift?
AI can actually enhance human connection—by giving leaders the time and mental bandwidth to focus on people.
Just consider:
Instead of spending hours on admin work, AI helps you be fully present in leadership meetings.
Instead of drowning in email chains or meeting notes, AI takes notes in meetings and filters what’s important—so you can spend more time coaching your team.
Instead of multitasking, AI automates the busy work—so you can focus on deep, meaningful work and enjoy more time with your loved ones.
The leaders who embrace AI won’t lose their humanity. They’ll rediscover it and turn their working environment into a more human one.
Action step:
Look at your daily schedule. What’s consuming your time that AI could handle? Think about how much time you could actually save IF you would have the right tool to take care of that task reliably. Now list all those tasks (don't forget your personal ones!) you won't be able to take care of due to a severe lack of time and too much pressure. How much time could you save by leveraging AI and what could you take care of or enjoy with the reclaimed time?
Conclusion: Don't be afraid of AI – it's your helper, not your enemy
AI is not a mystical creature that takes control of our lives away from us. It is a tool – just like the computer, the smartphone or the internet. A tool that can help us to make our daily work more relaxed and more productive.
Of course, this doesn't mean that everything will be perfect overnight. But if we take advantage of the opportunities that AI offers us, we can finally refocus on what really matters: humanity, creativity and collaboration.
So, don't be afraid of the future – it could be a lot more relaxed than you think. Just give it a try!
So, What’s Next?
If you’re a leader in today’s world, you don’t need to fear AI. You should embrace it.
But keep in mind: AI is only as powerful as your ability to use it strategically.
❌ It’s not about just plugging in a chatbot and calling it innovation.
❌ It’s not about replacing people with technology.
❌ It’s not about "just" getting an AI to do it all—it needs to match your needs and be trained exactly for that.
It’s about knowing exactly where AI can enhance your business
—and where human intelligence is irreplaceable.
Where to Start?
What if you could free up 10+ hours a week by handing off repetitive tasks to AI?

The Biggest Roadblock Isn’t Tech—It’s Leadership
According to McKinsey’s latest report of January 28th, almost every company is investing in AI at a certain level, but only 1% feel they’re truly making the most of it using it's real potential.
What’s holding them back?
Not employees. Not the technology itself. But hesitation of the leaders in charge.Employees, overwhelmed and fed up with mundane work, are already experimenting with AI in their daily work—finding ways to automate tasks, boost productivity, and make smarter decisions. They’re ready. The real gap? Leaders who aren’t moving fast enough to scale AI.
Here are some key figures from the report:
92% of the companies are planning to invest in generative AI in the next 3 years
Only 1% of organizations have achieved AI maturity
Employees are currently using generative AI 3 times more than leaders suspect
47% of employees predict using AI for over 30% of their work within a year
71% of workers trust their own companies to implement AI responsibly
AI's potential isn’t unlocked by using technology alone—it’s unlocked by leadership decisions and actions that empower people to use it effectively.
