The noise around AI is extraordinary - and it runs in both directions.
On one side, breathless excitement about everything AI will make possible.

But more important than the numbers is the direction: the roles that grow are the ones requiring human judgment, relationship, and creativity. The roles that shrink are the ones that were already frustrating people because they were repetitive and low-value.
The leaders who navigate this well are the ones who help their teams see this clearly - not minimizing real anxiety about change, but giving people an honest picture of where the opportunities are.
Myth 2: AI Is Making People Stop Thinking
What's actually true: AI changes how we think, not whether we do.
The concern is understandable. If AI can draft the email, write the report, and summarize the research, will people still develop the underlying skills?
In practice, the opposite tends to happen when AI is used well. Getting a genuinely useful output from an AI requires clear thinking about what you actually need - specific, structured prompting that forces the user to articulate their requirements precisely.
That's a communication and thinking discipline, not an outsourcing of it.
The more useful frame: AI is a thinking partner, not a thinking replacement.

Myth 4: AI Will Make Work Less Human
What's actually true: AI can give leaders more time for what's actually human.
There's a version of this concern that's worth taking seriously: if organizations use AI primarily to reduce headcount and cut costs, the work environment will become colder and more transactional.
That's a leadership choice, not an AI outcome.
But the version most leaders are actually sitting with - that AI will somehow erode the human quality of their work and their relationships - misunderstands what AI does.
It handles the administrative and transactional work.
It processes, summarizes, organizes, and automates.
It doesn't have the meeting with your key client.
It doesn't coach the team member who's struggling.
It doesn't make the call about organizational direction that requires weighing things that can't be put in a spreadsheet.

The myths are holding people back at exactly the wrong moment.
